When one of the leading South African insurance groups approached us to assist them in appointing a Senior Manager – Analytics and AI, we jumped at the challenge. We have worked with this client before, they are progressive, engaging and invested in their recruitment processes, which makes our role a lot easier.
Innovation is at the heart of their business – it drives their strategy, product offering and customer engagement, and, in order to work with them successfully to deliver short lists of relevant candidates, innovation must be central to our processes.
Challenge and Outcomes
Our search strategy was to research corporates who leveraged advanced analytics as a strategic focus, as well as Advisory Firms who have a focus on analytics and core data warehousing and architecture methodology delivery. The hunt was on.
While the demand for these skills is increasing, they are also scarce and tightly held, so we needed to be innovative and clever in how we identified the relevant candidates and how we engaged with them.
Ultimately, detailed research was undertaken across 42 companies in the Banking, Healthcare, Retail, Telecommunications and Consulting/Advisory industries and 55 potential candidates were identified. Our rigorous process, and our ability to really engage at the right level with candidates, resulted in a strong short list of candidates that closely matched the key role requirements.
This was truly a job well done. The successful candidate has gone from strength to strength, is on a leadership trajectory and is playing a key role in driving the analytics strategy of the business.
