Finding the right graduates
The Mission
Our client, a South African Retail bank, approached us to identify graduates who would qualify to participate in their Learning Academy. A key strategic focus of the organisation is on data and analytics, and this project was aimed at building capacity in these areas within their business, while also accelerating the careers of the respective graduates.
We had a very clear brief – the candidates had to be South African Citizens and recent Graduates, or about to graduate, in the fields of Engineering Sciences, Commerce or Business Science. They had to have achieved a minimum pass rate of 60% or higher in Mathematics and should have a keen interest in Analytics and Data Science as a career.
What an immensely exhilirating process to be involved in, and we have proudly done it 2 years in a row. How exciting to be able to tap into the pool of young, up-and-coming talent for our South African future.
Challenge and Outcomes
Typically we use various means to track and identify individuals, largely based on their career experience, this process was different. These candidates did not have career histories and could not be sourced and traced through our traditional research processes.
This time we had to undertake targeted university research, use graduate associations and social media, along with our network, to identify a pool of potential candidates.
Due to the magnitude of this project, we went the extra mile and facilitated and managed the client interview process and have committed to remain in contact with the candidates.
This project is one we are particularly proud of. We placed 25 candidates in 2019 and 15 are set to start in 2020.
